AJBN Share-of-the-Week Girls Day Edition

My Share-of-the-Week is Jonathan Coulton’s “rocking anthem about dead-end programming jobs” Code Monkey, and a fan tribute created by “IdleAmbition.” The animated video, which I can only presume was made by the same brilliant artists behind Avatar, Hugo, & Veggie Tales, tells the tale of the Code Monkey quite literally. My biggest fear professionally is becoming the boring manager Rob (though he does dress well in the video). A more significant fear, on a personal level outside the office, is being the Code Monkey himself, desperately hoping “someday he have everything, even pretty girl like you. Code Monkey just waiting for now. Code Monkey say someday, somehow.” After all, no evidence exists to suggest Coulton’s Code Monkey Part II would have a happier ending, ya dig? -Eric Marmon

My Share-of-the-Week made me actually squeal with delight when I discovered it. This Tumblr account, Disney Bound, mixes my two loves; fashion and Disney. One woman puts together entire outfits through Polyvore and posts the pictures on her Tumblr, with inspiration from Disney characters to rides and resorts at the Walt Disney theme parks.  The creativity and ingenuity of her choices are awesome. One of my favorites was a couples outfit of Waldorf and Statler from The Muppets, as well as a Haunted Mansion themed prom ensemble.  Not only that, but if you check out her Polyvore account you can find out what stores the pieces are from and buy to your hearts content. Because who doesn’t want an outfit inspired by The  Jungle Cruise? -Christine Melgarejo

I stumbled upon this insane video mistakenly thinking the Dutch band Within Temptation was going to be on the Ellen show. Instead of rocking out, I got to enjoy a couple doing a crazy skating act. The two use a special circular stage. The husband spins around while tossing his wife around like a rag doll.  The best part is the big finish, when they use a special elastic chord around their necks that is attached. The husband starts by holding her up, while spinning, and eventually lets go, meaning just his neck is supporting her, while she spins around. It’s UNBELIEVABLE. Video – Llamas with Hats

A friend of mine from two jobs ago introduced me to this short video series and I love it.  I love it for its wholly inappropriate subject nature; I love it for the hilarious dialogue and memorable, quotable lines; I love that it’s about two llamas who can talk!  This is a strange video that, despite the outlandishness of what’s going on, is very funny and should be shared with everyone in the entire world.  Or at least with anyone who has a sense of humor.  The most prominent quote from the entire series: Caaarl! -Heinreich T. It’s been awhile since I was so enamored with a live photo set the way I am with these. I’m not sure what it is but they make me smile and the subject matter is fantastic. Impressing girls used to be difficult. You needed big romantic gestures or tight well sculpted abs. You needed to try hard and sometimes you would still fall flat on your face, figuratively and sometimes literally. Those days though are over. These days all you need is an adorable and hilarious photo of an animal to melt a gal’s heart. I know Trololo is “lolol”-old but this video still puts me in a good mood. I can watch it and just know everything is right in the world. At least all is right in my world.
